IRQO is a non-profit organization based in Canada.
We started off back in 2006 by advocating for LGBT Human Rights and focuced on LGBT Refugee situations on the groud in transit and host countries, but officialy registered the name on 2008.
Long story short,
IRQO has over the years advocated for over a 1000 LGBT Refugees from their first steps fleeing perilous situations, until resettlement in a safe ;
Published 80 issues of CHERAQ, IRQO’s online monthly magazine;
Initiated, negociated, and moderated the very first LGBT related permanent page in Radio Zamaneh, which took the issue into the widest Farsi speaking readership;
Published the first 21 E-books by LGBT writers, residents of Iran through Afra Publications on 2009, created an exicitng cyber presense for the closeted writers and poets during the International Book Festival of Tehran;
Established Gilgamishaan E-publishing House in 2010 in Canada, thus created a strong, and lasting presence of Queer writers, poets, essayists, and translators who wrtoe material in Farsi;
In cooperation with other International LGBT organizations, wrote and resented the first reports and UPRs on Violations of Iranian LGBTI Human Rights to the Human Rights ;
IRQO stopped verifying and advocating new refugee cases, back in 2016, and at present is determined to invest more professionaly in writing, translating, publishing on issues of
Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity within Iranian culuture; Iranian LGBTI Human Rights within Islamic Republic of Iran legal system and social construct;
IRQO has a new logo, one that’s characterizing more accurately with IRQO’s new path.
